Helen Ashton

Location: Sheffield

Helen has specialised exclusively in asbestos related personal injury cases since January 2003. She has  a particular interest in the medical and legal complexities surrounding asbestos related lung cancer cases. She has written several articles on the subject and spoken at conferences to raise awareness about lung cancer.

Association of Personal Injury Lawyers - senior litigator

Helen is currently representing Ruth Melanie Durham in a group of 6 test cases collectively known as the Employer's Liability Policy Trigger Litigation, which was billed as one of the 10 most important cases to be heard in the Royal Courts of Justice in 2008. She continues to represent Mrs Durham on the Appeal.

Helen obtained a degree in photography at Derby college before studying law a few years later at Nottingham Law School, where she graduated with commendation. She joined the Sheffield office of Irwin Mitchell in September 1999.

In her spare time, Helen likes to play her alto saxophone (loudly), socialize with friends and go on sailing holidays with friends and family.
