Iain is a Solicitor in the workplace illness team in the Birmingham Office. He has been with Irwin Mitchell since 2001, training and qualifying with the firm. Iain specialises in representing clients with asbestos related diseases.

In his practice, Iain is regularly instructed by people with mesothelioma. Iain is particularly focused on settling those claims during his client’s lifetime wherever possible and he has achieved notable successes in this area. Iain offers expert advice to his clients regarding the legal issues in these cases. He also supports his clients and their families with the many difficult issues that they may face including applications for state benefits and dealing with the Coroner.

Iain achieves substantial settlements for his clients. He recently represented the widow of a worker with mesothelioma who had been heavily exposed to asbestos when working in the insulation department of a large midlands motor manufacturer. In that case Iain was able to recover a substantial settlement of approximately £240,000 to provide for the worker’s family.

Iain is a regular contributor to our mesothelioma blog. He writes a mesothelioma blog following two living mesothelioma patients as their claims progress, dealing with issues that those following the legal process may face.

Iain is regularly invited to speak to a wide variety of healthcare professionals about the complex area of law which underpins claims for asbestos related illnesses and about the state benefits available to people with mesothelioma. He is an accredited as a Senior Litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

Iain was born and raised in Birmingham and, after living in the North East for several years, he has now settled in the West Midlands. In his spare time Iain has given his time to support the Roy Castle Foundation and his asbestos support group.
