Abdominal cavity
The cavity within the abdomen. The abdomen is the space between the abdominal wall and the spine.

Adenocarcinoma
Cancer that forms in parts of the body that produce mucous or in the cells of glands. Also called "non-small cell lung cancer".

Adjuvant therapy
Chemotherapy drugs (including hormones) given after the primary treat (usually surgery, or radiation, or both) to help prevent the cancer from coming back.

Amosite
Also known as brown asbestos. Was regularly used commercially for insulation from the 1920s - 1960s.

Anaemia
Anaemia is a common side effect of chemotherapy and occurs when you have too few red blood cells. Symptoms of anaemia include feeling tired, weak, and short of breath.

Asbestosis
Progressive fibrosis of the lungs caused by exposure to asbestos dust and leading to a loss of lung volume and function.

Ascites
An accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity. It is symptomatic of mesothelioma and also found in patients with cirrhosis.
