Mesothelioma and asbestos-related lung cancer now affect more than 4000 people a year in the UK. Thousands more are affected by other asbestos-related diseases as the legacy of their exposure to asbestos in the past. Behind the shocking statistics are the stories of the individuals affected and their families.
Each person who is diagnosed with an asbestos-related cancer will embark on their own journey, through investigation and confirmation of their condition; undergoing treatment; and dealing with the symptoms associated with their disease and the effects on their lives. Each person’s experience will be unique but there are some aspects which will be common to many sufferers.
A number of our clients have kindly agreed to share their experiences through this website – giving their own perspective on the disease and its effects on them and on their families. We hope that what they have written, courageous, candid, insightful and inspirational as it is, will help those reading their stories.
