Radiotherapy uses high-energy radiation to kill cancer cells in the area of the body affected by the disease and any course of treatment will be developed for the individual needs of the patient. Whole areas of the body can be treated particularly following surgery where it has not been possible to remove all cancer cells.
Radiotherapy can be used in mesothelioma to reduce the size of the tumour and to help to relieve symptoms, such as pain or discomfort.
