Action Mesothelioma Day is to be held on Friday 27th February 2009 and plans are already well underway. Events will be run across the country giving all those affected by mesothelioma and representatives of asbestos disease victims the change to get involved.

The 3rd Mesothelioma UK Patient and Carer Day, supported by a grant from the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund, was held in Leeds on 4th October. The day, for patients, their carers, relatives and friends, attracted over 145 attendees. The feedback was very positive and we look forward to the event next year.

On 1 October 2008, a new Government scheme will be introduced for people suffering from the asbestos-related disease, diffuse mesothelioma. It will allow them to claim a one off lump sum payment and is targeted at those whose asbestos exposure was not experienced in the workplace.
