I'd just like to highlight this excellent report by Nick Sommerlad concerning Turner & Newall in Rochdale, the world's first and largest asbestos factory.

I had the sad privilege of representing the late June Hancock, who bravely took on Turner & Newall after developing mesothelioma in 1993. June had lived very close to another of Turner & Newall's factories in Armley, Leeds. June successfully brought legal proceedings against Turner & Newall and won a great victory.

Sadly June died in July 1997. The first mesothelioma research fund in the UK was established in her memory.
