28th April is Workers' Memorial Day

by Adrian Budgen 23. April 2009 09:18

We’re fast approaching International Workers’ Memorial Day, which takes place every year on 28th April. It’s a day to remember those killed by industrial diseases such as mesothelioma, as well as those killed in accidents at work.

Trade unions around the world organise events in memory of those that have died, but also with the aim of reducing risks and protecting workers from unnecessary danger.

This year there are a number of events being held in the UK, including speeches, the laying of wreaths and dove releases. A full list of events is available on the TUC website.
